Auto repair shop website accessibility: quotes, booking and coupons
Accessibility fixes for auto repair, tire and body shop websites: appointment requests, quote forms, coupon images, click-to-call buttons and maps.
Auto repair sites need visitors to do one of three things: call, book a service, or request a quote. Here's how to make each of those work for people who use screen readers, keyboards or magnification.
1. Click-to-call buttons
A phone icon with no text is announced as just "link". Show the number as text or give the link a name.
<a href="tel:+19185550100">Call 918-555-0100</a>
2. Appointment and quote forms
Year, make and model dropdowns need visible labels. Date pickers must work with the keyboard; offering a plain "preferred day" text field as an option helps.
3. Coupons and specials
Coupons posted as images hide the offer from screen readers and from search engines. Put the offer in text ("$20 off brake service, valid through Dec 31") and keep the image as decoration.
4. Services list
Use headings and lists for services (oil change, brakes, tires) rather than icon grids with no labels.
5. Map and directions
Give the address, hours and parking or drop-off instructions as text, not only in an embedded map.
6. Reviews and certification badges
Star ratings and badges (ASE, manufacturer certifications) need text equivalents, e.g. "ASE-certified technicians".
